Georgios F. asked a question to Rosie M.
Hey, Rosie, I hope this message finds you well. As I prepare to transition from academia into consulting, what was one tangible, early habit or adjustment you made to effectively apply structured, academic problem-solving to the dynamic and often ambiguous context of client advisory work?
Hi Georgios - great to see you're already thinking about how to apply your existing skills to the role of a consultant ๐
Whilst consultancy can seem ambiguous at times, with multiple stakeholders and shifting priorities, you will often follow a structured approach in your response. A great example of this is EY's Change Methodology, which will enable you with the tools/knowledge to support our clients across large-scale transformation projects. For me, the best way to transition was to get stuck into my first project, and ask lots of questions along the way - a lot of the skills you have from academia will help you in your role, especially when you first join! Hope that helps, feel free to ask any other questions ๐ก
