As a recent new grad in 2021. I would say the most challenging aspect of the job in the beginning is feeling like you are getting a good balance between in job experience and the learning schedule you will have as a new grad on a professional qualification programme. You can spend quite a lot of time in the first 3 months out on training courses i.e. ICAS/ICAEW etc and having that feeling of bedding into a new team whilst out in this way, can be very challenging. Make sure you are keeping in touch with team members throughout this time. Teams understand how difficult it is for a new grad in the beginning and are very accommodating to this.
With covid the way it has been and the new hybrid way of working that we all now have, getting into the office and seeing real faces can also be a very challenging aspect of our day to day work. Try to find a good balance of what works for you whilst bearing in mind that the more time you spend in the office with people, the more opportunities come up for teaming, collaborative projects and just general conversations. It makes the transition from starting a new role that little bit easier.
