I only studied an accounting module in my first year of university. But as I will be studying for exams right when I join, would you recommend preparing before the 12th? Are the first few ICAEW exams difficult, and do you have a lot to learn?
All the exams assume no base knowledge, as you have people with no accounting background. I wouldn't worry about getting a headstart, but I would be aware the course is quite intense, so once you start you may need to dedicate some extra time to cementing the content.
