For Business Consulting 2019 Graduate Scheme?
Hi Sarah! We do not look for pior experience, if you have some that is great, but it is not a requirement to get onto the scheme. We accept students from various academic backgrounds
Hi Emily!
Thanks for your message! I know students probably ask this questions a lot - but what makes a consulting CV/resume stand out in your opinion? Especially because there are so many applicants every year
That's a great question! Each person will differ in terms of the CV, you just have to make sure yours is unique to you - a combination of academics, extra curriculars and demonstration of your drive is a great way to get started
Do you particularly look for 1-page or 2-page CVs?
1-1.5 pages max
Alright thanks Emily - that's helpful to know!
And in regards to Simran's question above, I've also been really confused on whether 1 page or 2 page CV's are better.
Because some consultants say 1 page is best, but I struggle cramming everything down into 1 page!
The more concise it is, the better - we get lots of applications so remember to keep it as relevant as you can so that whoever views your application knows you straightaway from reading your CV
So a combination of academics and extra-curriculars are important. What do you mean a demonstration of your drive?
Could you give me an example?
This would include things you're passionate about - we have a variety of people with different passions and skill sets - so if there's something you're greatly passionate about that you could transfer to your job, make sure we know!
Alright thats been extremely helpful! thank you Emily! Also in regards to EY - what specifically attracted you to EY? I'm sure you applied to other companies too - but what differentiated EY from the others?
The culture at EY was my biggest reason for applying! The people, the atmosphere, the work life, the social life - all ties in very well here
And everyone at EY are very helpful and never hesitate to lend a hand
Ah that sounds fantastic - I'm attending EY's career event at Canary Wharf this Thursday! Hopefully I'll be able to gain more insight at the event!
EY were supposed to give a masterclass at Bath university but there don't seem to be any details about it. Do you know what may have happened?
Hi Sarah. Yes, sure - they will provide more info to you on Thursday but please ask any questions you have to the representatives there.
Hi Simran - all events EY put on will be found the website on this link https://ukcareers.ey.com/students/events-and-contacts
Ok thank you. Yes definitely will do that!
Thanks Lydia and Emily for answering all the questions!
Its been extremely helpful!
You're welcome Sarah!
