In Private Tax, we work on a range of client’s personal and corporate tax queries. As a result, you can often have multiple clients that you need to deliver work for. The primary skills that I have picked up involve balancing and prioritising this workload, managing expectations, and making sure that all team and client needs are met whilst maintaining quality. Secondly, you will be working with different EY people and teams for each client. Not reporting to one single manager means that you have to be able to develop a network, actively make connections, and promote yourself across the teams. This relationship-building aspect of the job has proven to be the biggest challenge so far.
