Good question! Unconventional is difficult to think of! Definitely try and speak to lots of different people in the office, not just teams that you're working with. Ask them lots of questions about their own careers and experiences - people love to talk about themselves and will normally give you the time (unless they are super busy - then don't be offended). If you can have any conversations with Directors/Partners then they are a treasure trove of knowledge/experience.
Would it be frowned upon to ask basic/obvious questions to Partners? I don’t want to waste their time, but obviously we are all quite junior
I'd suggest asking those kind of questions to your Associates, Senior Associates or Assistant Managers / Managers. They will have much more time to help you through the basics.
