What is the difference in terms of study, reputation and experience gained? Why do EY do both? Can you change the one given to you or is it specific for the office you apply for?
Hi Sophie, I hope you are well. With regards to ICAS (institute of chartered accountants Scotland) and ICAEW (institute of chartered accountants England and Wales), both boards are highly regarded and respected and are ultimately seen in the same light as they both lead to a CA qualification. As for the study and exams etc. I can only assume they are for the most part the same. And as to why we do both... All graduates at the firm currently do ICAS and all business apprentices do ICAEW - except those in Scotland. But whichever you end up doing fear not you are not at a disadvantage to your peers who may be doing the other!
Thank you George!
As its been a couple of years since this has been commented on; to reflect on the above, I would agree with the statement that both the ICAEW and ICAS are qualifications that continue to be reflected on in an equal light, and are great ways to start your career!
