Audit and Assurance are two quite similar things - I don't know an exact definition sorry but I'll give it a go! In audit we are performing work to obtain reasonable assurance over financial statements that companies put out each year. This is specific to financial statements. Assurance can involve most pieces of financial information (i.e. you provide assurance over projects).
