Hi, I hear that there are a lot of opportunities for audit graduates post qualification. I was just wondering what the options are for tax? What have previous graduates done? is it more limited to what you can do? Say you work in direct tax, can you move to something else like indirect tax? Can you still move to industry, but in tax only?
Don't know why you would ever want to leave? but if you did - there are a whole bunch of opportunities - so, rather than waffling about what an amazing CV you can build (it will be amazing though) I thought I'd share examples of where people who have left my team went:
- One become a teacher teaching Chartered Accountancy Students.
- A few have relocated with in EY - to the Channel Islands, New York and Dubai.
- A couple went into industry - one for a publishing company, one for a FinTech.
- One became a legal advisor for the Government.
- A couple changed service lines - people have started working in internal audit and transactions.
Final point to note - this may seem like a lot but this is across a large team over the 3/4 years I have been with EY.
