Hi Lola - the consulting role is very varied, you can choose what area of consulting you want to go into from technology consulting to business consulting
Hi Lydia, nice to meet you. Could you please inform me on what both roles are about?
Yes so for example I am in Tech consulting and within that in Capital Markets. So I work with global banks solving some of their big problems
That seems very interesting funny enough
So basically we work with different clients in FS banks and they come to us with a problem such as a very slow process and we go in analyse the bank and come up with ideas to improve the system create tools and tech to do so and then implement it
Which branch at EY do you wrok at? London?
Yes London. But with my projects have travelled and worked in India and Singapore
So your role requires expertise on advice, so did you get trained to do?
So roles and projects are very varied which is good! You don't get training on advice but you get training on lots of different consulting skills. And people higher up in the company will always help you and get you up to speed
That seems very interesting actually, what is the social life like at EY? And would you say that someone studying Accounting and Finance such as myself, would be fit to do that role?
Yes social life here is really good. Always lots of events on and everyone is really friendly
What kind of activities do you do?
When you start on the grad scheme you go on a trip to Reading then to Rome
I really hope I have the opportunity to work there because I really like what the company stands for. What is the placement like?
The industrial placement?
Yes
So its a year long placement - I never did but know lots of people who have done it and it seems great. You get to do the same role as a grad and get treated like one. So you get fully involved in the projects, can rotate onto different projects
Thats what I was planning to do as well, and I love to work in teams to merge ideas with other people.
Are EY quite fair with the application process?
