On the website the office dress code is ‘business casual’...I was hoping to get a bit more clarity one this as a woman starting at the Manchester office in September - e.g. any specific guidelines, any dress code do’s/dont’s, do you wear heels, how formal are people when in the office? Thank you! :)
Hi, our office dress policy across all our UK offices is 'dress for your day'. This means you can dress in clothes that make you feel comfortable for the day you have planned. The exception to this rule is when you're based at client sites and we encourage you to adopt the client's dress code policy. So we trust staff to make their own judgements on this, so for example jeans and a t-shirt are acceptable for a day in the office but perhaps you might prefer something smarter for a client meeting. You can always ask your buddy who you will be assigned before you join about this too if you want to know more.
Hi, I would echo the answer given above. Staff will dress differently depending on their commitments that day. For example, if you have face to face client meeting you would tend to wear a more formal outfit. However, if you have an informal volunteering day or a day including a sports activity you may dress more casually and comfortably, or bring along a spare outfit with you to change into. Different teams may also vary in their flexibility around the 'dress for your day' dress code so it will be clear to understand how others in your team dress once you have joined, and you can always ask other colleagues for their opinions too.
Smart Casual is often a great place to start - you may find it easier to arrive dressing in a way that makes you feel good, smart and put together, and developing how you wish to dress based on how your colleagues and team dress as you spend more time in office. 'Dressing for the day' can be subjective, so it's never a bad idea to go for the smarter style to start with, and go from there. Hope that helps!
