The main thing is that you are driven and interested in the subject. They look for people that are hard working and share the values of the firm. You're not expected to know everything and we learn right from the basics. Having a strong fundamental knowledge of the industry, be that from being aware of current events, news in the sector etc - all of this will help you provide clear examples in interviews! There are sometimes work experience schemes available - best advice would be to check out the EY Student website for current opportunities!
What would you say are the benefits of joining EY rather than the other big 4?
Obviously we're going to be bias! I personally think that EY is a leader in technology compared to the other big 4. It also comes down to personal preference, one will probably feel like a better fit to you out of the others. You can have a look at the websites and social media to get a feel of the culture and brand 😄
I would just add the opportunities with EY are endless. I have been able to work on clients that affect our everyday lives as well as the opportunity to travel to various sites across the country to see the client's operations in person and visualise the numbers we audit or help in terms of creating digital tools to help the audit teams! :)
