what does a typical work day look like as an apprentice ? E.g. 9-5 office, 6-8 studying?

This can depend on the time of year, as for ACA apprenticeships you only have blocks of studying, which are a few weeks before each exam and so this will be when you have to allocate time around your working hours to revise.
