I am in the process of applying for the Summer Internship program. With this, I am an international student on a Tier 4 Visa - due to graduate in 2022. Whilst applying, it asks if I have the right to work permanently in the UK and I proceed to choose the option that I will need a visa sponsorship. As this is only a summer program, I was made aware of other responses that as long as I provide proof of my term dates I will be fine to proceed. However, the form mentions my application risks getting rejected if I choose to proceed without the right to work. Could you please provide clarification as to whether I should continue anyways and what documents can be prepared for this proof of term dates? Thank you.
Hi - thanks for your question. If you're question is "Can i apply for a summer internship in the UK if i require a VISA" then unfortunately, no. We can’t secure Certificates of Sponsorship for internships and fixed-term placements.
That said, if you're already in full-time education in the UK on a Tier 4 (General) visa, you might be able to take up temporary work during your holidays or as part of your studies, under current regulations. Our summer internships run for six weeks, and the Home Office has stated that you’ll need to give us proof of your term times, so we can confirm you’ll only be working in your holidays.
There are no special deadlines for applications for our summer internships, only the ones shown on the programmes pages. All you’ll need is the necessary right to work in the UK, by the time it starts.
