Hi, I'm Daisie.
Did you want to apply for the summer internship or graduate scheme?
The actuarial graduate programme is part of the ACP which is the consultancy programme. We are still part of the ACP and learn core consulting skills but then our focus is on actuarial. You can choose to apply to either Pensions, Life or General Insurance.
Hello Daisie, thank you for the response, I am applying the for summer internship
Have you already applied to the consulting programme? If not, I would recommend applying directly for the actuarial internship as it's difficult to transfer from general consulting to actuarial
No I haven't, wanted to know more about the future prospects before applying. Thank you! Also, what is expected from an actuarial summer internship application?
So, EY recruit on a skills and personality basis. We can't see your degree choice or the university you went to, it's more about if you share the EY values. Do you know which area you will apply to as I can give you some insight into the type of work you will do in that period?
The actuarial general programme and for either London or Edinburgh
I'm in GI in London. From October to March is our busy period and we are largely focused on reserving which is what we are known for in the industry. Over summer we then have more variety so transactions, capital modelling etc.
You get lots of study support, we currently get a maximum of 43 days a year and support with material, tutorials etc so exam pass rate is really high
That's great to hear, on average, what's your day to day life like?
As I'm in GI, it's quite technical so we do a lot of data processing, working on spreadsheets, then later on in the year report writing and benchmarking exercises. We're already going to client meetings so it's great to get that exposure so early on.
That sounds very interesting. Did you start off in the summer internship or through graduate programme?
Graduate programme. Following on from my previous point, one of the benefits of being on the ACP programme is that you also can gain core consulting skills
Thank you, I'll apply for the summer internship and see how it goes.
Good Luck
