I am a lawyer from Chile and have experience in my country as a tax solicitor in one of the Big 4, where I worked for 3 years with a great recognition. I am currently doing a Master's degree and intend to work in a consultancy firm in the UK at the end of my studies. With my experience, can I apply directly for a position as a solicitor? Thank you very much.
Hi Tomas, thank you for your question. As a qualified solicitor from another country, it would be advisable to look at qualifications to convert your qualified status to be able to practice law in the UK. The QLTS or SQE examination should allow you to do this. You would not need to complete a training contract (graduate scheme) with EY in order to become a solicitor, as you are already qualified elsewhere. After going through this conversion process, you would be able to apply to solicitor positions with EY :)
Thank you very much Bessie! I imagine that, in this case, if I apply I should look vacancies on platforms other than students and graduates. could you give me a little more information on how to find out about general vacancies?
Hi Tomas, our experienced hire roles can all be viewed via this page: https://www.ey.com/en_uk/careers/what-you-can-do-here/experienced-programmes :)
