In audit Do you often find yourself working longer than the typical 9-5 to finish tasks (not exam related)

Hi Hashim, not usually, during the busier periods (your client's year end) you may work longer hours but typically it would be 9-5

Would you be expected to work overtime to finish projects or is it more laid back?

Hi, to add onto this question could they possibly ask you to sign a new contract to extend your maximum amount of working hours per week during busy season?

It depends on the deadlines your team has, e.g. coming up to a year end you may be required to work overtime if your tasks are not finished but typically it is not very common

Hi Eleanor, there will be no new contract that will need signing :)

Is that the same for tax? I've heard tax typically has less overtime than audit but what's the most overtime that happens?

Thank you for your answer Mickey!

Hi Jon, I am not too sure on tax as I am in the assurance service line but I have experienced no more than 2-3 hours per week

Glad to hear. I think there's an online horror story of sorts where people have worked 70-80 hour weeks so was a tad bit worried but glad to know. Thanks!
