Hi Immanuella, thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately I can only see half of your question, would you be able to reply and let me know what the full question is? :) Many thanks
I have attended the EY experience day for the Tax Graduate Programme, and was informed that time will vary in terms of when we will get an update, for now it has been about two weeks. I remember seeing that the next step is a final partner interview and I have heard it can also involve a presentation, could you please clarify this and the best way to prepare if one is invited? Thank you.
Hi Immanuella, it can sometimes take some time to hear back from an EY Experience Day, so please don't worry if you haven't heard back straight away! :).Correct, the next stage would be an interview with a Partner where you would provide a presentation
. If you are successful at the EY Experience day, one of our team will get in contact with you to organise an interview. They will provide you with an option of topics to prepare for, and you will need to go away and prepare your presentation for the interview.
I also wanted to find out about when exams and study leave is typically taken if you are studying to be a CA in the corporate tax graduate programme?Specifically, at which times of year and when is the first exam period after starting at EY?
Hi Immanuella, timeframes can vary slightly from person to person, but when I joined we sat our first exams in October of that year - we joined the firm in September, had our induction and then went to college straight after, sitting the first set of ICAS exams at the end of October
What do the exam windows typically look like throughout the year? I have heard December is the busiest season work wise. Also how are you finding the studying of the qualification? Did your previously have a related academic background?
The timing of your exams will vary from level to level in ICAS - I would recommend taking a look through the following from ICAS which details their upcoming assessment sessions:
https://www.icas.com/students/student-resources/yearly-planners.
The qualification is challenging, but definitely rewarding - I studied Physics at university and I have found that once you complete the first level of the qualification the knowledge gap between myself and any students with related degrees closed, because once you reach the second level of the qualification the content should also be mostly new to them as it is Master's level.
Just a note that not all programmes are through ICAS, some are through ICAEW or other institutions so these may vary but can be a helpful guide :)
Definitely interesting and helpful to know, thank you for sharing!
It is similar for ICAEW aswell
Where do you find out if it will be through ICAS or ICAEW? I applied to the Cambridge office :)
This will be confirmed to offer holders ahead of joining!
Thank you for clarifying, Brooke. Those are all the main questions I had, thank you for your time and responses everyone.
