Hi James, for company equipment, phone is upgraded every 2 years, laptop every 3/4 or if its damaged. What do you mean by software?
You may also be provided with specific software for client engagements and the client may provide you with another laptop for data security.
Thank you for your reply Dhruv. That sounds very interesting and glad to know the hardware is updated regularly. Would you say the specific software for client engagements is easily adapted to or does it take some time to learn?
It really depends, mostly I would say yes if you're willing to put the time into it. You'll have plenty of support with access to learning from internal and external sources if you need it.
Ok thank you. Are Microsoft Excel skills valuable in EY? Is it an application which is used often or are there more specific software's used?
In Technology Risk, the Microsoft Excel skills are extremely valuable - in fact, you may be able to stand out in our team if you are very good in Excel.
Ok thank you Jakub. I took ICT as an a-level and part of my course was to create a fitness tracker programme within Excel so i am very familiar with the software and how it operates with the various pieces of coding etc. I will be sure to continue to learn in Excel to give myself the best advantage possible when starting EY. Thank you!
I loved this thread and it’s good to see equipment is updated regularly.
Could I ask what type of equipment is provided, and is there a choice or does everyone get given the same? Eg a choice of laptop/company phone, or all the same one.
Hi there - thanks for your question. All employees who join EY are given the same technology and equipment as part of the onboarding process. All laptops are built in with our EY software for you to use remotely, and you can request further peripherals from our IT team. Our laptops are all the same and you can choose whether you'd like a Samsung or Apple device.
