The level of travel within Corporate Finance is dependent on the clients you work for (location and type of work). However, generally a CF graduate would expect to spend the vast majority of their time working from the office, though travelling to the client for meetings etc. This is because many of our projects are confidential and thus we minimise time on client site.
The majority of our CF clients are UK-based.

First, I am not sure how to directly reply to your comment! However, thank you for your response, it helped a lot. I am glad to hear that generally a CF graduate spends the vast majority of their time at the office. I am happy to travel, but I have never been someone who wants to "live out of a suitcase". As CF at EY is my ideal position, your reply was very reassuring!

I also read, on this site, that you can talk to your manager about your preferences about travel etc and they can try and take this into consideration? I Do you have any tips/general advice for my experience day - in my job simulation I did not specify FSO or UK&I yet and on the information pack it said to thoroughly research the one you chose.

Hi Anshul,
Yes, you certainly can speak to your manager about your preferences and these will be taken into account when considering resourcing.
If you are unclear whether you have been assigned to FSO or UK&I, it might be worth asking your HR contact for further details. In terms of advice, I would say the most important thing is to be enthusiastic and engaged - that way you will learn as much as possible during the course of the day.

Brilliant, thank you! I did email and they said because I said I have no preference - during my job simulation - I haven't been assigned one yet. I guess there's no harm in researching both areas!

Hi Rachel,

Sorry just to add to this - as CF graduates spend the majority of their time working from the office, are they able to experience other offices and work on projects there as well as the one they’re based in?

For example, if a CF graduate is based in London for their scheme, is there the option to work at a regional office at times on a project (if one comes up)? Would this again be something we could speak to our manager about when it comes to preferences for a bit more travelling, perhaps?

Hi Angelo,
Thanks for reaching out. There are certainly opportunities to work in other offices. This can either be on a project-basis, depending on the location of the client (for example, I often work with specialists in our Hamburg office with team members travelling between London and Hamburg as required). In addition, there are opportunities for longer-term secondments (6-24 months) if you are looking for a longer term move.
Both can be discussed with your manager, though the first option will be highly dependent on the project.
