Hi Hamna. The ATT qualification is going through a transition at the moment. It was taught fully online during COVID, however I think there is now the opportunity to attend classes in person. For each paper there are usually 4 days of classes for each paper with 2-3 days revision classes. You are asked to complete self study in between time. There are a lot of resources and tutors on hand to assist with any queries you have as you work through the materials.
Just to add on from Fiona's point. For my team I was in college for 7 weeks from the day I started before I started working in the office but that was all virtual
Thank you, Fiona and Dean! May I ask how many exams we need to completed to get the qualification?
For the ATT and my service line I need to complete three 3 1/2 hour papers and then 3 1 hour long Computer Based Examinations (CBEs) in law, ethics and accounting
The types of papers you will sit for the longer exams will depend on your service line but for me I did personal taxation, business taxation and employment taxation
Do we get to choose the topic area for the longer exams or are they set by EY and the team beforehand?
Unfortunately they are set by the EY team you will be joining as they would need you to have the relevant knowledge to fulfill your role
