And is support offered if one if found to be underperforming?

Performance is measured differently from team to team. But speaking for my perspective we are broadly assessed in 4 different areas: Technical excellence (which is the quality of your analysis), Client relationships (how well you interact with clients), People and high performing teams (how well you can work in a team), and your utilization. You are then given a grading from under-developing through to thriving for each of these areas. And there will definitely be support if you're underperforming, you are given a 'buddy' and a counsellor who will help mentor you throughout your time at EY.

In Assurance it's a bit different. On each job you'll have a feedback session with the senior/manager to discuss how you did on the job and what you'd like to improve on in the future. This is then submitted on a system called SuccessFactors where you're graded on a range of topics - Better Me, Better Us (Teaming), Client, Quality and Business. If you are underperforming your teams will support you to give you the extra coaching you need whilst on the job, and your counsellor (a manager) will help support you outside of engagements. We all want you to do well!
