How does EY support apprentices who want to explore cross-functional learning?

    Hiya! EY has a programme called EY Badges. EY Badges is a global learning and credentialing programme designed to help you build future-focused skills and earn digital credentials that are recognised both internally and externally. There are multiple courses that you can take and you can start from the apprentice level, so not restricted to any ranks.

    Great answer anyway, thankyouu! My I ask one more question? I’m currently preparing to pursue my master’s at ICL, and very interested in joining EY after I graduate as I take Business Analytics major. Given that I’ll be around 30 by then, is age ever a consideration for entry-level or early-career opportunities, or is the focus mainly on skills and potential?

    Hiya - glad to know the answer was helpful! There is no age requirements, so you won't need to worry about entry level graduate opportunities being restricted due to age :)

    That’s great to hear, thank you so much! I really appreciate the clarification :) it’s encouraging to know EY values skills and potential over age. I also find the EY Badges programme really interesting, are there particular badges or learning paths that apprentices with an interest in Business Analytics or data-focused roles usually pursue?

    There are quite a few so I won't be able to cover it all. But I just had a quick check on EY Badges and I saw that some of the analytics badges relate to data visualisation, data integration and data science. A very quick look but there are a lot more depending on what area of data analytics you were interested! :)

    That’s really helpful, thank you for checking! The analytics badges you mentioned, like data visualisation and data science, sound exactly in line with what I’m interested in. It’s great to know there’s that kind of flexibility to explore even from the apprentice level.

    I also noticed that some apprentices have been with EY since around 2020, may I ask how the career path usually progresses from there? Is it quite structured, or does it depend more on each person’s goals and performance? :)

    So it varies - there is progress based on years - but performance and goals can be a strong influence based on the feedback you receive on engagements. You will start as a staff and progress up to senior, which is based on time and linked in with progress with your exams. After senior, any progression after this, is usually influenced with feedback and your ability to start to manage/coach team members as you will move from a preparing role to reviewing. Don't worry it's all fixed and you can have conversations with a counsellor whenever if you had any questions as you were working through your role! :)

    That’s really clear, thank you so much for explaining Akhsat! It’s great to know that progression at EY is both structured and supportive, with guidance from counsellors along the way. By the way, does each person also get an assigned career mentor, or is the counsellor the main point of guidance for career development?


    And, I’m currently working as a software engineer actually and really interested in transitioning into a consulting environment like EY after finishing my master. What kind of preparation would you recommend for someone shifting from a tech background like me? would practising case studies be helpful, or should I focus more on developing business and analytical skills? As you mentioned the excel and formula is very usefull skill on another room :D

    No worries - to answer you first question - you will be assigned a counsellor. Your relationship with your counsellor is controlled by yourself so you can chat with them when you feel like it is best. In terms of mentors, whilst you are not assigned one, I have had a lot of senior managers or partners who have helped looked at certain opportunities for me or manage my client portfolio so the help is always there but you just really need to ask!

    In terms of your second question - I would just reiterate the comments from other apprentices about really being your authentic self and I think showing your interest on the digital side will be really key. AI is a huge area at the moment for all companies, so I think that will be a really interesting subject to talk about at interviews. I hope that helps but sorry if that is a bit generalised! :)
