What differs in the scope of the audits, and does one typically develop expertise in one specific industry or several? How do the graduate programs differ for those working in corporate vs GPS?
Hello. I did my internship in GPS audit and then switched to corporate audit when I joined as a graduate. The clients you'll work with are very different - GPS you'll work on entities like councils and fire & rescue authorities, whereas in corporate you'll work on private and listed businesses. I personally felt like corporate clients were more exciting and a bit more modern - focusing on innovation and profit. Whereas my GPS clients were focused on value-for-money for taxpayers.
Thank you.
Does one typically develop expertise in only one specific corporate industry or several?
If you're in London you'll be more specialised to a sector (i.e. Technology, Energy). If you're in another office then you'll get a much wider experience of sectors. For example I've worked in Products & Services, Construction, Aerospace & Defense, Pharmaceuticals, Advance Manufacturing, even briefly in FinTech.
