Sophie R. asked a question to Lucy W.
To add on from my question, what other things would you recommend learning beforehand (could be assurance specific) to get the most out of my internship? I also study at UofG currently like you did!
Hi Sophie, thanks so much for your question. First of all I'd like to say congratulations on the internship offer! (and also that is a great choice of university haha).
Personally, I went into the internship with very little assurance knowledge - I knew from a few google searches what it was and broadly what it entailed but apart from that I went into it quite blind! However, I had done some research by looking at the EY website to find out more specific details regarding assurance at EY and also surrounding their values, networks etc. On the internship, you are not expected to know any background knowledge as they will teach you the foundations because at the end of the day it is an opportunity to see whether or not you are interested in the field and would like to pursue it as a career. I would say the main thing is to go into it with an open mind, show that you are interested and willing to learn. The internship is a great way to find out if EY is a great fit for you as you begin to learn numerous audit skills and also meet a lot of friendly faces! My top tip is to enjoy it as much as you can because it really goes by so quickly! If you have any more questions, please let me know :)
