Zainab K. asked a question to Vidhant M.
Hi Zainab.
Great question!
Here are a few things I would recommend:
Research the company and specific team thoroughly: Whether that’s through the company’s website, social media, news outlets, or even YouTube. By doing this, you might discover certain tools or initiatives the company or team is currently working on. Mentioning these in your application or bringing them up in interviews shows genuine interest and makes you stand out.
Tailoring Your Skills to the Role: Go beyond listing generic skills; show how they align specifically with what the role and team need. For instance, if the team uses specific tools or methodologies, mention any experience you have with them or your enthusiasm to learn. Giving examples where you've applied these skills (even if in a different context) can be really impactful.
Networking and Informational Interviews: Reach out to employees, alumni, or connections within the company for a chat about their experience. These conversations can give you insights that are difficult to find through other research, and you can mention in interviews that you’ve spoken with people within the company to learn more. It shows initiative and genuine interest.
Preparing Insightful Questions: Prepare questions that show you’re thinking beyond the surface level. Asking about current projects, challenges, or how the team collaborates can demonstrate your understanding of the role and interest in contributing thoughtfully.
Developing Commercial Awareness: Stay up-to-date with news and trends relevant to the industry or sector the company operates in. If you can discuss how a recent development might impact the company or industry (tailored to your role preference), it shows you have a broader understanding of the business landscape.
Hope this helps.

Vid
