Does the classroom learning take place outside of the EY office or elsewhere?
Hi Maisy! We do get training courses in an EY office which can be specific to the service line that you are in or they are general trainings such as building strong client relationships. The college side of learning often happens in the college that you are signed up to be attending - not an EY office.
Hi Andisiwe, that is very helpful, thank you. Also, do you know if for the assurance apprenticeship you begin working at the EY office when you first join, or whether you go straight to college? Thank you.
Hi Maisy! You will join and get two induction days (Thursday and Friday). This will be followed with a week of work, and then after that week you will have college in preparation for your first exam!
I see, thank you very much for your help, it is greatly appreciated!
When is the first exam for an assurance apprentice who isn't joining as a graduate?
No problem Maisy!
Hi James! The first exam for the apprentice depends which service line you are going into. Which service line are you going into?
I gained a place on the Business Apprenticeship Programme in Manchester in Assurance
I would also be interested to know about this too. I will be going into Assurance in the London Bridge office.
The sector also plays a factor. I work in the Government and Public Sector and joined September 2018. My first exam was in March 2019, whereas someone in Corporate sector, their first exam was in May/June. This is because for Corporate their busy season is Jan-Mar but my busy season is May-July, and you don't do exams during busy season.
Okay that makes sense, thank you. As an apprentice do you get the opportunity to work in various sectors, or are you assigned to one and that's where you always work?
You are assigned to one sector - but there can be opportunities to work in other sectors also!
Do you have a say in which sector you work in or is it allocated to you?
Hi Maisy - new joiners are allocated a sector. If you get in touch with the contact on your offer letter they should be able to tell you
I believe I am joining the UK&I Assurance sector within the Manchester office at EY. Does this mean I will only be dealing with clients within the UK and Ireland and therefore any travel will be within the UK and Ireland?
Okay, thank you very much Oliver.
Hi James - yes, that is likely the case
You're welcome Maisy
Cool thank you
You're welcome
