Ellie or Chloe, joining EY as a consultant, what are your tips on finding the best client projects?

Are they mostly allocated to us, or do you suggest being proactive and actively seeking projects (e.g. by networking)?

Hey Francesca! So my experience has been that I was assigned several projects when I started (working in IT audit it's a bit different and we work on multiple projects at a time) and then once you have been working a few months you will start to hear about different opportunities within the team. My advice would be just to speak up if you hear about something you're interested in, speak to seniors/managers/directors and find out what kind of projects they're working on and ask them to let you know if something comes up that they need help with!

Hi Francesca! In my experience within FAAS, projects will initially be allocated to you, but as you gain more experience and get to know more people within your department, you will be able to be more proactive and seek out different projects by reaching out to seniors and managers you've worked with and letting your resourcing team know what you're interested in.

Hello, so do we discuss our requests/ choices of industries/ projects once we begin?

You can let your counsellor (line manager) and our resourcing team know of preferences you have when you join, but note that you may be assigned to lots of different projects in order to gain the right experience :)
