Completely up to you but please do remember that it may take longer as not everyone would have capacity to reach back to you

I would definitely say yes to this. I did this when I was applying for my graduate roles, reaching out to people on LinkedIn to ask questions about their experiences. It also an additional level of interest for recruiters in my opinion.
