We often hear about consulting as a more "skills" based jobs, in terms of logical problem solving and client interaction. Are there more technical skills looked for in actuarial and transactions applicants?
Hi Lidia! Yes there is a difference in the skills or mindset looked at for Transactions and Actuarial. Actuarial will be the most technical area you could apply for
Hi Helen! Thanks for your response.
So given that consulting is less technical, what makes a candidate stand out? Particularly for somebody coming from a non-technical background (humanities)
We do strengths based recruitment so we look at who each person is overall. I would recommend that you research technology, the business world and your service line as much as possible before applying and then in the EY experience day make sure you have lots of conversations, include everyone in the group tasks i.e. ask their opinions.

Thank you so much for the insight Helen, will be sure to do this!
