I have just completed my EY virtual experience and awaiting results
Hi Haider, we absolutely welcome people from non-accounting backgrounds. I come from a Politics and International Relations background myself :) The exams we do in first year are a bit tougher for non-accounting backgrounds but we get so much support to help us through them it rarely makes a difference
As an engineering graduate, what caught my interest was learning about new technology and problem-solving
We tend to find that those from STEM backgrounds do really well given the skills you gather during your degree
That's good to hear. How did you find getting up to speed with new technology?
It's a lot of on the job training - you learn lots very quickly but getting to know the new technologies comes fairly easier
Hi, sorry just a question from me, did you have any experience with different technology prior to joint the scheme?
What are day-to-day activities on a client visit?
I didn't have any coding experience, just the usual technology you might expect (using MS Office apps for uni work etc).
Client site visits vary. We sometimes just work from there so that we can approach the client with any questions. Sometimes it'll be a lot more formal meeting with senior clients.
What were the requirements in terms of technical knowledge and what were you asked in your interview in regards to that?
Just a good knowledge of what we do as a team. No technical knowledge is assumed as we'll teach you that when you join.
Cheers Sam
You're welcome, good luck with the application
