Hi there. I am not major in business or accounting. But i want to apply assurance graduate scheme. Could you give me some advices to apply this role? And what is the most important quality when you choose the candidate for this service line?
Hi Alaia, thanks for your question. You are more than welcome to apply to our Assurance graduate scheme despite not coming from a business or accounting background. We take graduates from all degree disciplines. We recruit on 10 key strengths throughout our recruitment process, these strengths can be found on our website: https://www.ey.com/en_uk/careers/students/application-tips
The biggest advice I would give is to be prepared for the online assessments as it's where most students fall down. We have a numerical reasoning test which is timed, and some data analysis/situational judgement type questions. The following websites can help you prepare for the online assessments:
1. VEE (Virtual Experience and Evaluation) – Split into three modules which can be completed at your own pace: career ready – focusing on strengths, assessment ready – assessment practice (including NRT) and showcase – EY specific job simulation. https://www.cappfinityvee.com/g/dfd9e0991a2a44db9195c690a4f8e815a965bd83
2. CAPP Assessments - opportunity to take practice tests in situational strengths, numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning and critical reasoning. https://practice.cappassessments.com/
Also, ensure you have researched the service line and location you want to apply for. Ensure you are applying for the service line and location you think you are best suited to because it is very hard to change service line and locations down the line. Additionally, you will be asked about your motivations for applying for that particular service line and location.
Hi~ i also have a question about .. how I can get to know the latest news and knowledge about this service line (audit and assurance). Could you give me some recommend like some book .website or some magazines such as talk about how tech impact on the audit ...audit daily routine and how the big business enviroment impact on audit?
I would recommend following our social channels. Also, keep up to date with us in the news e.g, The financial times, economist
And for a student that not major in business or accounting, how could i demostrate my own skillset to fit in this role on the final interview? Do I need a related intership?
I would recommend ensuring you know about the role you have applied for and your motivations for applying for that role. You can find out lots about our roles on our website.
