What is audit all about? i understand the general premise but is it simply checking invoices and checking assets reflect net book value etc. or is there more to it that would train you for running a business?
Hi Ben, great question. Yes, any exposure or understanding of business will help but EY does not expect this as our graduate scheme for Assurance is open to all regardless of background or whether you have studied business or accounting and finance before. Audit is about delving into the financials, understanding the systems and processes such as controls in place at an organisation. Depending on the organisation, industries and scope of your audit engagements, there is also opportunities to learn about listed and non-listed clients, i.e the differences, as well as different regulations such as SOX controls and many more opportunities to learn and grow as well.
I see, thank you!
