The flippant answer is to say "all of them".... but
but many roles are not just be augmented by AI skills but also supplanted by AI driven automation.
However, that can be an enabler as we cannot remove humans from critical decision making chains
so while AI automation can remove many of the low-level and drudgery tasks we still need humans in the centre of challenging and complex issues where judgment calls need to be made. So... that's a long way of saying DFIR and Engineers absolutely need to be skilled but look at how they enable themselves to address bigger, more complex challenges while automation improves around them
That makes sense and I think it's important that we embrace AI but need humans making key decisions.
Do you find people need to have a more technical and curious mind set to address the challenges AI brings? For example do you look for more people now with Engineering and Development backgrounds on top of the Cyber skills?
You've described it quite well there... we need an array of people. Some with deep technical skills, some less but can engage across policy and process in a way that deep technical specialists might struggle with. It makes careers in cyber here so varied as we need all types of people, backgrounds and capabilities.
I think my advice would be to maintain curiosity at all times. What is it that motivates and makes you passionate about the subject or field, if you can stay interested and keep learning you'll always be of value as the field develops
Absolutely - I get asked a lot by people breaking into Cyber or moving in areas what's the best certification to get or how to develop a skill as they want to be a Red Teamer coming from a SOC background etc. I think being curious about everything and embracing technology and following your passion is key. AI in Cyber is opening up new risks but also new opportunities
Hey Koroush, I think a lot of the CREST certifications are great for people moving into a Red Teamer role - they have certifications with varying levels of proficiency. A good entry level one is CREST Practitioner Security Analyst (CPSA) :)
Thanks Tom
