Hi Lewis! Lots of my friends work in Extended Assurance so am happy to answer any questions! I think the best place to research it would be the EY website (from my knowledge!) - extended assurance covers Controls Reporting, SOX reporting, GIPS reporting, annual reporting as opposed to just financial statement assurance!

I would say the technical knowledge doesn't need to be a lot for assurance! You get all the training you need when you join EY (I knew very little technical things about assurance when I joined) and when you start to complete some exams you'll learn a lot aswell!
